Bin came to my family approximately two years ago from a family who was no longer able to give her the attention and love in which a Beardie is so hungry to receive. She was the daughter of our Beardie Camelot who we lost to cancer in the winter of 2012.
Bin came to us as a gift and she helped fill the void and emptiness from the heartbreaking lost of Camy just a year earlier. She had personality and spunk just like her mother and it brought back a wholeness to our family. When we lost her mother to cancer it was my goal to do and go to whatever measures possible in future to help prolong the quality of life in our remaining four Beardies. I was hoping that I would never have to take such measures but the powers that be had other plans.
This past January, Bin was feeling extremely uncomfortable and in pain so we took her to the vet where we received the news that all pet lovers dread to hear, it was Cancer. She was diagnosed with Cancer on the L5 of her Spine. The prognosis was bleak. The vet said that her quality of life could be just days to weeks. I was not satisfied with that prognosis and as much as getting a second opinion was the next thing to do it wasn’t the answer.
We would have lost more time with her searching for another opinion then trying other avenues. My first thought was to reach out to the thousands of Beardie owners across the world on Facebook. I received many great ideas and tactics to extending Bin’s quality of life. From herbal medicine like spurulina to raw food and everything inbetween. Then I received a message from Beverley of Dogs Today Magazine in the UK. It was then I felt there was hope for Bin. Beverley introduced me to a gentle medicine called CV247. My family and I refer to it as the miracle medicine.
As soon as I read about CV247 I was amazed about its gently and comforting affects it has on dogs. It is not a medicine meant to cure the illness but to extend the quality of life. How long that quality of life will be is not determined based on the medicine. I stayed true to my word and went to whatever measures possible to get this medicine for Bin.
I called experts in Hungary, The United States and in the UK. I ended up communicating with Nick Thompson a member and co-founder of the CV247. My prayers were answered. Nick’s transparency, communication along with speedy shipping helped my family focus on Bin and enjoying each and ever extra day we had with her. I looked forward to speaking every three months with Nick on Bin’s miraculous health and the benefits CV247 had on Bin.
From the months between diagnosis and her passing, most days for Bin was better than she had been prior to being sick. She was a spunky and happy girl. Recently, she started to take minor steps back and yesterday she decided that her body could no longer keep up. It was heartbreaking and a day we knew that was inevitable, but nonetheless something you are never able to prepare for.
Bin went against all odds and gave us seven extra happy and healthy months before it was time to say see you soon. Our hearts feel heavy from the support of CV247 and from fellow Beardie owners who sent condolences from all around the world. Yet we are back to feeling empty inside. We were a gift to each other and Bin lived out her final two years with great memories, lots of love and most importantly alongside her two aunts Madison and Chloe. May you cross over the Rainbow to your mother Camy and wait for all of us to be reunited once again someday. We love you Bin and thank you for the great memories.
